How long is the season? The season goes from June 1 – October.

NICA League Registration High School  –  $340.00
PCHS Team Fees – $250

If you need financial help please reach out to the team here.

What type of bike does my child need?
Mountain bikes with 26- to 29-inch wheels with knobby tires (no slick tires) not narrower than 1.75 inches. (If a student-athlete is unable to ride a mountain bike with 26- to 29-inch wheels due to his or her height, competing on a mountain bike with smaller wheels is permitted.)

No road bikes, mountain bikes equipped with drop bars, single speed, or cyclocross bikes.

For safety reasons, handlebar end plugs and stem caps are required, no bar ends (forward pointing handle grip extensions) may be used.

All riders must ride with their hands holding the bars within reach of the brake levers.

Bicycles must have fully operational front and rear brakes. Brakes must be adjusted to provide significant stopping power.

What about helmets? HELMETS ARE MANDATORY

Helmets must be properly fitted. There should be little to no side-to-side or front-to-back movement with the strap adjusted to allow no more than two fingers under the strap.

Helmets should sit down on the forehead and not at the crown of the hairline.

Helmets should not have any cracks or dents from previous falls or mishandling as this is an indication that the protective structure of the helmet has been compromised.

Full-face helmets are not allowed without written permission from the NICA Rules and Appeals Committee.

What about shoes?
Student-athletes must wear appropriate footwear. Footwear must be fully enclosed and fastened with either straps, buckles, or laces. (Platform pedals or clipless pedals are permitted.)

What type of Hydration?
Student-athletes must have a water bottle with mounted cage or hydration pack. Hydration packs offer storage room for items such as energy bars, spare tube, and tools.

What if they have a mechanical?
Student athletes should carry a spare tube even if they ride tubeless tires. Tubes must match both the wheel size and width as indicated on the tire sidewall. Be sure valve stem (Schrader vs. Presta) matches wheel design. Students should also carry a mini-pump, tire levers and a bike tool. During races students will be given a time penalty for “outside help”

I would like to coach – how do I become a coach?

I can’t coach but could help in other ways!
There are many volunteer positions we need – from making snacks, race set up/tear down to helping organize our end of year banquet. If you can help in any way or would like to know more click HERE.
