My first memory of riding bike was around the age of 7. My 3 brothers and I would have to fight over who got to ride the one bike we had. I did lots of running in high school and college (Wish there was a MTB team when I was in high school back in the early 90s!!).

Got into road bike racing just out of college, and raced till I got my cat-3, then decided mountain biking was cooler and more fun.
Did some 24-hour MTB races (Snowshoe, Moab). A few Xterra MTB triathlons also. Moved to Utah and thought P2P would be no problem! Very humbled when I FINALLY crossed the finish line in second-to-last-place after over 12 hours – tears were involved at a few points after hour 10.

Favorite Mountain Bike Trail – Any of the deer valley trails. One of my favorite rides is starting at mid-mountain up Tour Des Suds, Flagstaff, to Bowhunter.
Sport you’d be doing if not MTB biking – Any type of Nordic or backcountry skiing. I’m much better going up then down (biking and skiing included).
Meaningful moment as a coach – seeing the camaraderie between the girls on the team from the ages of 11 – 18. Also, seeing a few of the girls who were terrified of racing (and frankly refusing to do it), then facing their fears, racing, and having success and fun while doing it. So much growth and build-up of their self esteem.
