I really didn’t get into riding until I was in my mid 20’s when I met my husband Nic Sims, also a PCHS coach. I remember when we first met and him telling me how much his bike was worth and it was more expensive than my car, I thought he was crazy. When we moved to the USA, our whole lives revolved around bicycles so I figured I needed to get into bikes otherwise I would be left out.
Living in Santa Cruz there was some great road rides and mountain biking to be had and we would spend every weekend with friends riding bikes. Whether it was century rides or mountain biking at UCSC we were out and about.

I won a MTB vacation to Moab and did some of the iconic routes, such as Slickrock, Gemini Bridges and Porcupine. I learned quite a bit about myself on that trip.
I tried my one and only cyclo-cross race, I crashed hard but because it was double points I ended up higher up in the point standings than Nic. We’ve done a few adventure races over the years but thats my total racing experience.
When we moved to LA, I joined an all women cycling group call the PV Bike Chicks. I hadn’t ridden since my youngest was born 5 years earlier. The first day a 72 year old lady beat me up a climb, I was so inspired and decided at that point I wanted to be her when I was 72.

I have put together several kids bike programs, one in LA and several for the Youth Sports Alliance including the last 5 annual Park City Take a Kid Mountain Biking Days.

Sport you would be doing if you weren’t mountain biking – anything on water, beach volleyball (I know I am small but I love it), snowboarding or skate skiing.
Favorite ride in Park City – Despite the numerous people on the trail I still love Mid Mountain.
Favorite coaching moment – seeing kids who don’t want to race EVER, try their first race and totally love it.
Bucket list item – still want to ride the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to LA.
